声旁

声旁：
有的汉字跟它里面的一个部分的读音一致，这个部分就是“声旁”。比如，“态（tài）”它的声旁是“太（tài）”，“惊（jīng）”它的声旁是“京（jīng）”
Phonetic radical:
Some characters have the same pronunciations with a certain component in it, then this component is called the phonetic radical. For example, the phonetic radical of "态（tài）" is “太（tài）”， the phonetic radical of "惊（jīng）" is “京（jīng）”

古人在造字的时候，声旁跟整字的读音基本一致，但是由于语音的发展变化，现在很多声旁的标音已经不准确了。有的声旁跟整字的音调不同，比如“爸（bà）”的声旁是“巴（bā）”；有的声旁跟整字韵母相同，比如“速（sù）”的声旁是“束（shù）”，“新（xīn）”的声旁是“亲（qīn）”；有的声旁跟整字的声母相同，比如“杯（bēi）”的声旁是“不（bù）”。

When the ancient Chinese made the characters, the characters' pronunciation are basically the same with their phonetic radicals. However, the characters pronunciation have changed quite a lot with history and they have been ...different from their phonetic radicals. Some of the differences lies in the tones. For example, the phonetic radical of "爸（bà）" is "巴（bā）". Some of the characters have the same rhyme to that of their phonetic radicals. For example, the phonetic radical of "速（sù）”is "束（shù）”，the phonetic radical of "新（xīn）”is "亲（qīn）”；Some characters have the same consonant to their phonetic radicals. For example, the phonetic radical of "杯（bēi）”is "不（bù）”.
